Deerwood Entrance (10/1/10) - The Deerwood entrance is currently scheduled to be closed for construction on 10/12/10. Northwood Drive will re-open at that time.
Unlawful Solicitations (10/1/10) - From time to time their are solicitors in the neighborhood selling magazine subscriptions or offering to sell/test items such as vacuum cleaners or alarm systems.
Per the Lake Jackson Code of Ordinance, "It shall be unlawful for any person to go in and upon the premises of a private residence in the city unless requested or invited so to do by the owner or occupant of such private residence for the purpose of soliciting, selling or taking orders for or offering to sell or take orders for any goods, wares, merchandise, services, photographs, newspapers or magazines, or subscriptions to newspapers or magazines. The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to persons engaged in interstate commerce; provided, however, it shall be unlawful for persons engaged in interstate commerce to go from house to house or place to place in the city without having first registered with the city manager."
If a solicitor comes to your door, the first thing you should ask to see is their permit from the city. If they cannot produce it, you should report them to the city code enforcement officer (979-415-2400) or the police (979-415-2700).
